Cozumel is one of the top sport fishing destinations in the world, both for deep sea fishing and for bottom fishing. Here, during fishing season you will be able to catch different species of billfish in one day. Bottom fishing is also one excellent activity in which anyone can easily enjoy a fishing experience. If you are new to learning how to fish, or if you have children who are anxious to try this sport, this is the most recommended type of fishing for you to try! Because of the geography of the island, you can travel less than 1.5 miles from shore and be at over 800ft of water. Thanks to this, it makes it so comfortable for fishermen to go out and start fishing in less than 10 minutes. We have the pleasure of fishing right in front of our island, without having to travel for hours! And all with a most stunning view – it doesn’t matter if it´s early in the morning, mid day or late in the afternoon.
We generaly departure from “Puerto de Abrigo” marina (north of town) since it is one of the most convenient and safest places for guests to board / unboard due to swells, rain, winds, pier taxes (some hotels) & other factors. It is also a great departure and return point, since it has a parking lot, piers for filleting your catch and fresh water for rinsing. Departures from downtown piers and hotel piers is possible in the majority of cases, but do require advance notification.
